About A Funhouse of Mirrors
A Funhouse of Mirrors was presented at The Menier Gallery as a series of dramatic shards from a window into relationships and the ways in which they can crack and shatter. We worked closely with award-winning playwright Ross Howard, researching domestic abuse, talking with victims, and exploring the uncanny mathematics of psychological manipulation and distortion in intimate relations. From this investigation into how communication and exchange can fray and erode bonds, Howard’s text was developed through an improvisatory process that mined the subject matter for emotional truth. The material was served by the increasingly intuitive and gender-balanced insight of Ehnold-Danailov and Lee’s direction.
